POLICE believe they have cracked a gang responsible for more than 12 robberies.
Officers arrested five men and four women, and seized three loaded pistols, a grenade, $200,000 in cash, three watches and some gold jewellery during weekend raids.
Rolex watches belonging to film director Lau Kar-leung and his actress wife, Ms Yung Jing-ching, are believed to be among the haul.
The Laus were dining at the Tai Ping Koon Restaurant in Yau Ma Tei when it was held up by three men and a woman on January 2. The suspects shot and injured two police officers during their getaway.
Confirming the arrest of the nine, Detective Senior Superintendent Iain Grant said: ''We suspect they are responsible for more than 12 armed robberies last year including jewellery shop raids and robberies inside premises and restaurants.
''The suspects are willing to open fire without hesitation. There's little doubt in our mind they are extremely dangerous because they resort to use firearms to evade police arrest.'' The suspects, aged between 19 and 22, include a Chinese male illegal immigrant. Police are looking for three more men.
