Relations between Hong Kong and the Netherlands are well established. For more than 100 years, the Netherlands has maintained a professional consular office in the territory.
Mutual trade and investment have continued to increase.
Hong Kong and the Netherlands have many things in common. Both are relatively small and densely populated areas.
Both economies are predominantly services oriented. Both perform a very important gateway function for their respective hinterlands.
In view of these circumstances, I perceive plenty of opportunities for further enhancing and expanding our relations with Hong Kong.
