Senior clubs are pushing to have former Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) chairman Victor Hui Chun-fui back in the hot seat next season.
Hui, who retired from the post in July 1993, has been invited to replace present chairman Stewart Lee Leung-nang, a move supported by HKFA president Dr Henry Fok.
Lee is to leave his post in July.
A spokesman of the Association of Hong Kong Professional Football Clubs Limited (AHKPFC) believes Hui's return would solve the running disputes between clubs and the HKFA.
'Mr Hui is obviously the most suitable and highly-respected candidate for the post,' said the AHKPFC spokesman Ken Ng.
'He is the chairman of the South China Athletic Association. He understands the situation of the First Division clubs and has very good relationships with the clubs.' Hui has been the HKFA chairman four times - 1976-79, 82-83, 85-88 and 91-93 but said at his retirement in 1993 that he would not return.
