Evergreen begins Panama port

Taiwanese shipping giant Evergreen Marine has begun construction of a US$120 million container port facility on Panama's Atlantic coast. A company spokesman said the 20-hectare facility, called Port Coco Solo, is expected to be completed by July next year. Located outside Colon, 80 kilometres from Panama City, it will be Panama's second private port facility on the Atlantic coast after Port Manzanillo, which opened last October.
