A plastic surgeon accused of botching an operation and leaving a client looking like she had two sets of breasts, is fighting to clear his name.

The doctor was convicted of misconduct after the Medical Council concluded last October that he had joined forces with a beauty salon to promote his services.

The council found Dr Frederick Lee Chiu-tong guilty of canvassing to obtain patients and having improper financial transactions with the Europe Beauty and Electropathy Centre in Causeway Bay.

Lawyer Horace Wong, for Dr Lee, told the Court of Appeal the council should not have convicted the surgeon. He argued there was no persuasive evidence the doctor had used the beauty centre to boost business.

The centre ran an advertisement in Sister magazine promising cheap, non-surgical breast enlargements, double-eyelid reshaping, double-chin treatments and various other procedures traditionally involving surgery, the court heard.

A woman surnamed Chan answered the advert seeking larger breasts and a reshaped nose, Simon Westbrook, for the Medical Council, said.

But an employee at the centre informed the woman that she would 'need an operation' to achieve the desired effects, and quoted a much higher price.
