Man remanded over restaurant holdup

A 20-YEAR-OLD man, allegedly connected with an armed holdup at a Yau Ma Tei restaurant popular with movie figures, appeared in South Kowloon Court yesterday.
Lam Ka-lok is accused of robbing Ms Mary Jean Reiner Lau at the Tai Ping Koon Restaurant, Mau Lam Street, on January 2.
A $56,000 watch, a $30,000 ring and earrings worth $6,500 were stolen from Ms Lau.

Pun Luen-pan, Kong Hing-keung, Pang Oi-kwong and Cheng Wing-yee were also alleged to have been involved in the robbery.
The court heard that two policemen were injured during a shootout with suspects.

Magistrate Mr Richard Davies remanded Lam in police custody until next Wednesday to allow further inquiries.
