SEASON after season local handler Alex Wong Yu-on collects together a decidedly above average team of griffins. Yesterday he sent out Majestic Conqueror at something like 200-1 in the second event won so well by the Patrick Biancone-trained Keen Talent who looks destined for top honours next season. It was hard to fancy Majestic Conqueror to run into the first three yesterday but he didn't deserve to be at those odds as he had improved quite markedly in his trackwork. He showed that improvement in his race and was noted staying on well into sixth in this 1,400-metre contest and is one to keep in mind for next season when he is sent out over staying trips. He is stoutly bred and 1,800 metres or farther should see him oblige. Wong Tang-ping sent out Fireball in yesterday's opening griffin race and he is another for next season. He's been hitting the line hard in each of his past three runs and is just the type with which Wong does so well. A mile should suffice.
