World's darkness dispelled by love

Total darkness filled the school hall at first.

Then, one by one, candles were lit and soon the hall was one blaze of light.

This dramatic sight was the highlight of a recent Parent-Student Night, organised at Chinese YMCA College.

The 'dark-to-light' ceremony was meant to symbolise the contributions of every individual in brightening the world and making it a warmer, happier place to live in.

This was the school's second parent-student night, an annual event, and attracted a crowd of about 500 parents, guests and students.

The evening's programme included two short plays about family life and campus life performed by the students.
