PUBLISHER Leung Tin-wai remained in a poor condition at Eastern Hospital last night, but doctors said his condition had stabilised.
Surgeon Dr Ip Fu-keung, who led the 17-hour operation to re-attach the newsman's left forearm on Friday, said Mr Leung's wounds were clean and the blood circulation satisfactory.
Further wound-cleaning operations would have to be done this week, he said.
Skin-grafting operations are tentatively proposed for this week, if his condition remains stable.
The Surprise Weekly publisher's wife, Leung Wong Kwok-shing, speaking at the hospital yesterday, said her husband had said a few words and she was confident of his recovery.
'I hope that with [other journalists'] support, we can carry on to fight this battle,' she said.
