The introduction of a new colour HP inkjet printer designed exclusively for Windows users has been a big hit with local buyers according to one dealer.
The HP DeskJet 820Cxi is aimed at Soho (small office home-office) buyers or consumers who run Windows on their PCs. It is Microsoft Plug-and-Play-ready for Windows 95 and support Windows 3.1 and 3.11.
The manager of one HP DeskJet reseller said the 820Cxi was an attractive buy because it did not have the serial interface for connection to a Macintosh and was HK$500 cheaper than the 850C, which had the Mac interface.
The printer does not require an AC transformer, which is an advantage in space-conscious Hong Kong.
The HP DeskJet 820Cxi has an official list price of HK$4,045 and comes with a one-year limited warranty. It was selling in one local shop for HK$3,288 while the DeskJet 850C had a price of HK$3,788.
The new printer incorporates HP's RealLife Imaging System to automatically deliver vivid colours and sharp black text on plain paper. In addition, it offers 50 professional TrueType fonts that allow users to create a wide variety of document styles, from everyday reports to direct-mail pieces and custom invitations or cards.
