Question: Of the many news-gathering resources on the Internet, what would you recommend for someone who wants a quick daily guide to what's happening around the world.DAVID SUNG Wan Chai One of the better news-gathering tools I have come across on the Web - and one I use everyday - is a product from United States company PointCast. The product is of the same name and allows you to get the news you are interested in when you want to see it.
This is a really good piece of work. And it's free. PointCast hopes to make money from the on-line advertising space it sells on its product.
The PointCast Network itself is quite simple to use. First off you 'personalise' it by clicking on that button. This feature allows you to predetermine the news subjects and other topicsyou want PointCast to bring to you.
Everything is covered from politics to sports to world news. The only criticism I have is PointCast is aimed squarely at the US market and as a result, the news it offers (sport is another good example) is very 'Americanised'.
Having said that, it is still a good way to keep abreast of business and general world affairs, to say nothing of US news and stocks.
