CONGRATULATIONS must be on hand to the powers that be in the Treasury Department for their foresight in notifying the relevant organisations not only in the private but also in the public sector that they were introducing new coins.
What would be interesting to know from the Director of Accounting Services (if that is the gentleman with ''The Foresight'') is exactly when he notified such organisations as the Road Transport Department, the MTR, the Post Office, Hongkong Telephone Company and any other operation for that matter, that new coins were indeed being introduced so that all automatic machines could be adjusted to receive the new coins, and steps could be taken to minimise inconvenience to the general public.
