PUBLISHERS and schools have been urged to revise school textbooks by including China's resumption of sovereignty.
A resolution adopted by the Preparatory Committee yesterday said publishers and schools should provide 'appropriate teaching material'.
The committee said present textbooks 'in general can continue to be used'.
Their contents had to be consistent with requirements in the Basic Law.
The resolution, the committee said, was to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of education and the present publication and distribution system of school textbooks.
Members said earlier contents such as 'Hong Kong is a colony of the United Kingdom' and 'two Chinas' had to be removed.
