Debaters from La Salle College beat Diocesan Girls' School (DGS) by one vote to win the 28th Joint School Chinese Debating Contest recently.

Yu Chun Keung Memorial School No 2 came third and Canossa College came fourth.

Diocesan Girls' School's third speaker, Sara Tse, was awarded the Best Debater title.

The debate was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre earlier this month.

The motion debated in the final round between La Salle College and Diocesan Girls' School was 'Hong Kong Government should set up laws for employers to buy injury insurance for their employees'.

La Salle College defended the motion.

Desmond Cheung, captain of the La Salle team, argued that it was the responsibility of employers to buy insurance for their employees to protect them in case of accidents.
