A father should normally be happy to be reunited with his children. But 52-year-old Chan King-man is not.
Fighting back tears, he explained why he has come to regret his decision to apply for his two sons to join him from China a year ago.
'Some of my friends' children needed to wait for at least four years to come,' said Mr Chan, who sneaked into Hong Kong as an illegal immigrant in 1961.
'I had expected my elder son to come when he was 16 and to find a job.
'But now, the application only takes one year. The kids are still so small. I don't know whether it is my luck or not.' Worse, Mr Chan's wife's application has not yet been approved.
Two weeks ago, his children arrived. Mr Chan has no option but to quit his job at a restaurant to look after them.
He had been earning about $10,000 a month, but had chosen to live in a bed space because he wanted to save as much as he could.
