New science programmes with an emphasis on management training will be offered soon by the Open Learning Institute.
The institute said yesterday that three science, one language and one education programme would be offered from October.
Professor Wong Tat-meng, Dean of the School of Science and Technology, said the degree courses in electronics, environmental studies, and engineering mechanics, material and design would help people shift from manufacturing to service-based industries.
'These science courses, while retaining the core science or engineering training, have added in a flexible management component which covers marketing, organisational behaviour, business law and others,' Professor Wong said.
'The inclusion of management options allows students a wider perspective and opens up more employment opportunities.'
