New offices are sprouting on reclamation sites and in crowded buildings throughout Hong Kong. MFS Communications, a provider of communications services for businesses, is about to join the fray by establishing a new operating company in the territory.
'Hong Kong is the first step in our plans to serve the major business centres in the Asia Pacific region,' Magdala Hoi, general manager of the MFS Hong Kong subsidiary, Far East Corporation Ltd., said.
She added that the liberalisation of Hong Kong's telecommunications market opened a broad niche for the company's voice, data and enhanced services and systems.
The new operation will focus on sales and marketing telecommunications services designed for institutional finance and Internet markets.
Steve Liddell, president of the MFS Asia Pacific regional operation company, said the Hong Kong headquarters would help the company provide end-to-end network to its customers.
'Historically, purchasers of international telecommunications services have had to deal with two suppliers - a local telecom supplier and the terminating supplier,' he said.
