I refer to Ada Yeung's letter headlined, 'Let down over lecture' (South China Morning Post, June 6), in which she correctly pointed out that no representatives from the Department of Chemistry were present in the lecture hall for consultations on admission matters after 2pm on May 25. I take this opportunity to apologise to Miss Yeung and several other students who spent over half an hour waiting for the discussion on admission. I started the 30-minute Q&A sessions at 10am, and ran continuously until 1.45pm when the last batch of students left. No students showed up for the next 15 minutes. As I was really worn out, I decided to break for lunch. Unfortunately, I forgot, as suggested by Miss Yeung, to put up an 'out for lunch' sign. I returned at about 2.40pm to find no one in the hall, and therefore called it a day. To partly make up for the blunder, I hereby extend an invitation to all students who either missed our talk on May 25 or simply want to learn more about our curriculum to visit the Chemistry Department at their convenience on an individual basis. I can be reached by phone (2609-6373) or e-mail (kachunghui range for such visits. Dr KA-CHUNG G. HUI Department of Chemistry The Chinese University of Hong Kong
