A shark measuring about three metres was netted off Sai Kung, fishermen said yesterday. Ng Yung-shing said the shark was apparently trying to eat the fish in the nets attached to his trawler and became trapped. Speaking on board his 30-metre fishing boat after arriving in Shau Kei Wan Typhoon Shelter, Mr Ng said he noticed the shark after the boat entered Hong Kong waters and reached the Ninepins Group, near Sai Kung. The shark, weighing about 240 kilograms, was struggling and died soon after it was lifted from the water, Mr Ng said. He said he would chop off the shark's fins before selling it.
