The Broadcasting Authority took TVB and ATV to task for carrying inaccurate information about the eligibility criteria for naturalisation as a British Dependent Territories Citizen.
It issued advice - the lowest form of punishment on a scale ranging up to warnings and fines - against ATV.
Strong advice was given to TVB for carrying similar inaccurate information.
'The difference in sanctions took account of the remedial actions taken by ATV subsequently,' the authority said.
