Cook keeps crew fuelled with simple fare
The crew of the MV Greenpeace may have needed strong stomachs, but at least they were not empty.
Lynda Green, 40, the ship's cook said: 'It's not haute cuisine, but people on the boat work very hard and they need fuel.' Ms Green cooked for all 32 people on board, despite never having worked as a professional cook before.
Fresh bread was baked every day, and there were plenty of fresh vegetables.
But contrary to the stereotype, the ship is not a haven for vegetarians.
On the last night of the trip, the journalists and representatives of lobby groups on board arranged a barbecue which Ms Green said featured 'lots of fat, juicy steaks'.
However, the usual evening meal ranged from 'British stuff, to pasta, curries, stir fries and rice'.
