Teenage triathlete champion Daniel Lee Chi-wo and basketball player Chan Yee-ling have one thing in common - they are both determined to get to the very top in their chosen sports.

The demands of their respective sports only increase their ambition.

'Sometimes, my training with the Hong Kong national junior squad can be very strenuous, with morning and afternoon sessions every day,' Daniel said.

'But when think of the satisfaction I get from finishing a day of hard work and, of course, the friendship I share with other team members, I don't really feel the strain.' The 19-year-old triathlete, always sporting a crew-cut for convenience, joined the Hong Kong squad when he was 16. Daniel is currently the number one junior triathlete in the territory.

His participation in international competition will extend to the Asian series in Korea next month, and the World Championship in the United States in August.

Sixteen-year-old Yee-ling, on the other hand, has also come across difficulties in her sporting career.
