Problem requires firm resolve

YOUR report (South China Morning Post, January 22) on the Bar Association's annual general meeting refers to the current debate on fusion, but wrongly attributes to me the incorrect assertion that fusion might reduce the opportunity for touting.

It would be illogical to believe that a larger single fused legal profession could or would either reduce touting or make its control more effective.

Touting continues because it has been allowed to proliferate.

The problem requires firm resolve and strong realistic remedies which I have called for.
