Bad weather did not dampen Leung Wai-keung's plans to spend a day with his wife and one-year-old son at Ocean Park. The 35-year-old engineer says going to the park and playing with his child is the best way for him to relax after a busy week's work. Neither the hour journey from their Sha Tin home nor the $580 family pass fee could deter him.
What's on your mind? Ocean Park is a special place for me. When I came here last, I was still dating with my wife, but now I am a father! This is my son's first time and I'm sure he'll love it. He is too young for the rides and can't walk properly. I will take him to see the flowers, birds and big fish in the aquarium. That is interesting enough for him.
Do you worry about safety, as there was a landslip last year? I'm not worried about safety or the possibility of a landslide. If it is unsafe, the park wouldn't let visitors in. And the rain is not as heavy as before.
I hope it will stop so we can spend a happy afternoon with two of my relatives who are leaving the territory tomorrow.
Anyway, I think the bad weather gives us an advantage - there won't be too many people in the park while we are there.
Do you think food and souvenirs are too expensive? Yes, it is quite expensive so I have prepared some pizza and snacks for lunch. If it is still not enough, we will go to McDonald's, as the price is more reasonable.
