Why not get those feet dancing this summer by taking one of the many dance courses being offered at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (APA)? The programme, which runs through July and August, includes more than 40 different dance courses, designed for all levels - from the novice to those who have been dancing for years.
The courses include ballet, modern dance, jazz, singing for musicals, tap, Chinese dance, acrobatics and body awareness.
The standards cover elementary, intermediate and advanced. Applicants for intermediate or advanced level courses must have a minimum of two years' training in the form of dance they want to study this summer.
The APA and the Hong Kong Ballet are jointly running a course teaching popular ballet works and the basic technique of making a new dance. There are also dance courses specially designed for children.
These special courses are aimed at inspiring children's creativity through games, drawings and dance movements. Fees range from $560 to $1,590. Members of the Society of the Academy for Performing Arts get a 10 per cent discount on courses run solely by the APA.
The programme is an opportunity to join gifted dancers in Hong Kong's premier performing arts institution.
