We refer to T. Yuen's letter headlined, 'Tennis fans let down by Cable' (South China Morning Post, June 12) and Donal Scully's 'On the Box' column headlined, 'Double fault as ESPN miss Paris finals' (Post, June 10). The French Open was an ESPN programme, albeit carried by Wharf Cable TV. We were sorry to learn that viewers were disappointed with the scheduling of the channel. We have raised our concern with ESPN and it has intimated the arrangement was due to exigencies impinging on live broadcasts such as weather conditions and overall programming strategy. We will continue our negotiations with ESPN to ensure the least disruption of live programming on major sports events in the future. ERIC LO Cable Operations Director Wharf Cable
