Erawan Company's listing on the Australian stock exchange on February 14 was a highlight in the building material firm's recent history, according to managing director Diana Chow Sheung-kwan.
'We know we are a quality company and the Australian listing has helped us get to know ourselves better,' Ms Chow said.
'It lifts our standing and status in the industry and gives our customers confidence in us.
'Australia was chosen for the listing because of a few construction companies already traded there.
'We were asked to answer a list of 199 questions by one of the three major solicitors firms in Australia to see if we were eligible for listing.
'They found our company was clean, clear and well managed. They said we qualified.' Although Erawan has no plans to carry on business in Australia, it distributes an Australian product - Tridek wall finish - in Hong Kong.
After leaving her position as first executive administrator of the Building Contractors' Association, Ms Chow worked for another building materials contractor, which she said gave her the idea of starting a company of her own.
