Governor Chris Patten has hinted he may consider a bid to become leader of the Conservative Party in Britain once his term in Hong Kong expires.
Talking in a BBC radio interview yesterday, Mr Patten said he had a penchant for high-ranking jobs.
But he said the prospect of a bid to lead the party if Mr Major resigned was a 'hypothetical question', leaving the door open for a challenge.
