Nicholson International, a leading global executive search firm, has opened its new Hong Kong headquarters.

With offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Sydney and New Delhi, the company - which has increased its Asian business more than 300 per cent in the past two years - concentrates on executive search and selection, human resources consulting and assessment testing.

'During the next decade, Asia will continue to be the fastest growing region in the world,' Simon Hewitt, Nicholson's managing director for the Asia Pacific, said.

'However, the greatest threat to sustained growth in Asia is the lack of qualified middle and senior managers. Our job is to help firms meet that challenge.

'In China, for example, we help clients by sourcing local and expatriate staff. Additionally, we work with our clients by sourcing their management team and then helping them to set up a human resources department.' Company chairman David Nicholson said too many companies were just profit-driven.

'They go to China only to make money, whereas enlightened companies realise the importance of giving something back by investing in their staff. But you must have a strategy for developing people, otherwise you have trouble retaining them,' he said.
