Jardine Matheson has appointed Khalid Ismail as country chairman of the Jardine Matheson Group in Malaysia.

He will also be joining the Asia Pacific regional board of Jardine Matheson Holdings.

Mr Ismail recently retired from the Malaysian civil service after a 30-year career in government.

 He retired as secretary-general, ministry of culture, arts and tourism.

Fortune Oil Plc has appointed Richard Wong Shiu-ki as finance director and general manager for infrastructure investment.

Mr Wong was previously executive director of China Strategic Holdings and managing director of ICI China. He was also finance director of BP Hong Kong.Ken Lambert has been named the Hong Kong Tourist Association regional director for the Americas, based in Los Angeles.

He will be responsible for conception and implementation of HKTA marketing activities throughout North, Central and South America.The Bank of Bermuda has named Paul Smith as managing director, financial institutions in Hong Kong.

 Mr Smith will be responsible for the further development of the bank's corporate trust business in the Far East, encompassing both the institutional and pension fund custody and administration services.

Arthur D. Little Asia Pacific has appointed Jeremy Pong and James Davies as consultants in environment, health and safety in its Hong Kong office.

 Mr Pong spent the past seven years as environment and energy engineer at Shiu Wing Steel.

  Mr Davies has experience in assessing the risk of potentially hazardous installations, offshore oil and gas facilities and railways.KPMG Hong Kong has named Ruby Leung, Nick Baldwin and Johnny Ng as partners.

  Ms Leung joined KPMG in 1978. She has experience working with large enterprises in China, as well as assisting multinational corporations investing in China. Her specialised industry is manufacturing and retailing.

  Mr Baldwin joined in 1993 as training director. He has experience in technical advisory services and supervises the development of training services.

  Mr Ng joined in 1984. He worked in the Beijing office for two years providing professional services to multinationals with operations in China.

  He was involved in listing Chinese companies on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.

 Price Waterhouse has named five partners - Alan Ho, John Loughlin, Ajit Rangnekar, Kwok Kay-so and Richard Sun.

 Mr Ho has experience in advising China-based companies listing in Hong Kong and also the various stock exchanges in China.

  Mr Loughlin specialises in advising Hong Kong and Chinese companies on international securities offerings in the US and other jurisdictions and in due diligence and other advisory work.

  Mr Rangnekar was a director of Price Waterhouse Management Consultancy. He specialises in helping clients implement information technology and change initiatives.

 Mr Kwok has experience in providing Hong Kong and international tax advice to corporate groups.

   Mr Sun is an industry specialist in the audit of securities brokers.

Philips Medical Systems has appointed Dr Gerard Henschen as vice-president of finance and accounting for the Asia-Pacific region.

  Dr Henschen was controller at the Philips Medical Systems head office in the Netherlands.

  Also, Dr Chris Mol has been named marketing director, Asia Pacific (X-ray, radiotherapy and ultrasound) in Hong Kong. He was marketing manager (cardio vascular) in the Netherlands.
