THE director of the Chinese State Council's Hongkong and Macau Affairs Office, Mr Lu Ping, and the director of the local branch of the New China News Agency, Mr Zhou Nan, will visit Guangzhou from February 5 to 7 to meet the 43 Hongkong affairs advisers. The pair are expected to solicit opinions from the advisers before Governor Mr Chris Patten tables his political reform proposals to the Legislative Council on February 17. Meanwhile, Mr Zhou revealed to The Mirror magazine that China would announce the names of a second batch of Hongkong affairs advisers in March. Sources said Beijing was considering a number of political figures, among them former executive councillor Mrs Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai.
