A pimple-ridden robber decided to take revenge on the beauty salon that failed to cure his acne, a court heard yesterday. Cheng Chui-fai, 25, was enraged when he learned that the Elsa Beauty & Fitness Centre was advertising on television. 'He said he was previously cheated by the shop in 1987,' prosecutor Wayne Moultrie told the High Court, 'so he decided to take vengeance by robbing the shop.' On January 6, Fung Siu-wan, 41, was working in the Mongkok beauty centre when Cheng burst in waving a fake gun. She fled the salon and called the police. Security cameras recorded Cheng ransacking the shop. He was taking cosmetics from a display cabinet and shoving them into a travel bag when police arrived. But he made no attempt to cover up his crime, surrendering to officers and admitting his crime in court yesterday. Government psychiatrists concluded that Cheng, unemployed, was suffering from schizophrenia, the court heard. Deputy Judge Jackson adjourned sentencing until July 19 for further psychiatric evidence.
