Walt Disney's summer treat, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, opens today. Based on Victor Hugo's classic novel, the animation is about a hunchback bell-ringer, Quasimodo, who lives an isolated life in Notre Dame Cathedral. One day, he decides to slip out and have a look at the wonderful world. He is teased and tortured until Esmeralda, a beautiful gypsy dancer, comes to his rescue. He teams up with the heroine to save the lives of the gypsies. The English version is showing at UA (Admiralty and Times Square), Golden Gateway and Miramar, while the Cantonese version is being screened at UAs (Whampoa, Sha Tin, Bond, Kowloon City), Pearl, Chinachem and Astor Classics. The dragon opens its jaws and Sean Connery speaks. Connery is the voice-over for the title role of the adventure picture Dragonheart, which opens at UAs, Broadway, Chinachem, Golden Gateway, Majestic, Golden Lee, Ocean, New York, Miramar, Astor Classics, Empress, Windsor and Silvercord. The fable, set in the 10th-century, is about the alliance between a man of honour and a creature of legend - the dragon. The blockbuster Mission Impossible, starring Tom Cruise and Jon Voight, takes audiences on a roller-coaster ride of non-stop action and adventure. Based on a popular '60 television series, the film is shot in several cities in Europe, including Prague and London. Secret agent Cruise is accused of betraying his country.
