Japanese shipbuilder NKK Corp will launch a 171,000 deadweight tonne (dwt) bulk carrier on July 24.

  The vessel, which is Singapore-registered, is being built for U-Ming Marine Transport (Singapore).

  The vessel is about 289 metres in length. It has a breadth of about 45 metres and depth of 24 metres, with a draught of 17.78 metres.

  The bulk carrier, which is being fitted with a HZ-Man B&W 6S70 MC (Mark V) engine, will have a speed of 14.3 knots.

  On the same day, another 150,000 dwt bulk carrier will be named and delivered to its owner, Eleanor Shipping Corp. The vessel is registered under the Liberian flag.

  The vessel has a length of 273 metres, breadth of 43 metres, depth of 23.9 metres and draught of 17.4 metres.

  The bulk carrier will be fitted with a MES-MAN B&W 6S70MC (Mark III) engine, with a speed of 14.85 knots.

  NKK Corp will also have a keel-laying ceremony for a 170,000 dwt bulk carrier on July 31. The Liberian registered vessel is being built for Sable Navigation SA.

  The vessel is 289 metres in length, 45 metres breadth and 24 metres depth and has a draught of 17.7 metres.

  The bulk carrier will be fitted with a MES-MAN B&W 6S70MC (Mark V) engine, with a service speed of 14.7 knots.

   NKK has reportedly received four orders for its newly developed 74,000 dwt panamax bulk carrier. Two orders reportedly came from a subsidiary of Cosco and the other two from undisclosed interests.

  NKK's 74,000 dwt panamax is slightly bigger than its main competition, Hitachi Zosen's Optima and Sumitomo's panamax bulker.
