Ross Greer has stunned First Division champions Instant-Dict by deciding to quit Hong Kong soccer.

Instant-Dict executive director Ken Ng said yesterday the Australian left-winger was not expected to return next season.

'He [Greer] called me on Wednesday and asked for the termination of his contract. He said he wanted to stay in Australia so that he can spend more time with his family,' said Ng. 'Greer still has a one-year contract with Instant-Dict and another one-year option which expires at the end of the 1997-98 season.

'If he is to play for another club in Hong Kong, we will ask for a transfer fee.' The 29-year-old Greer had an impressive career in Hong Kong, winning six league titles during his six-season stay.

He first arrived in the territory from the Western Australian League side Floreat Athena in October, 1990, paying for South China until the end of their league championship-winning 1991-92 season.

Greer then won three consecutive league titles for Eastern before he transferred to Instant-Dict last summer.
