The story is pure Hollywood. An attractive divorcee falls for a tango teacher half her age, is spurned and stabs him on the dance floor in a fit of revenge which nearly ends his career.
But this is no movie script. Scott Todd, a United Kingdom ballroom and Latin dancing champion, came to Hong Kong from Manchester last year to seek his fortune.
He quickly found work at the exclusive Academy of Dance whose student list reads like a Who's Who.
Pupils include Chief Secretary Anson Chan and Baroness Dunn whom Scott describes as 'a very graceful, elegant dancer'.
This week the dance instructor told how his romance with Chan Ming-ming blossomed last summer as he waltzed and cha-cha'd her around the large Causeway Bay studio.
But today he remembers the whole saga as 'just a hell of a bad dream'. And if there is one lesson he has learnt it is don't date students. 'It's completely put me off,' he said.
