The former chief executive officer of Bremer Vulkan Verbund, Friedrich Hennemann, has criticised federal watchdog agency BvS for changing its stance as Germany's largest shipbuilder fell into liquidation.

He defended his own role and that of Bremer Vulkan's banks in the bankruptcy, blaming a lack of leadership for the company's financial troubles. BvS has filed a 38.8-billion-Deutschemark (about HK$196 billion) suit against four former managers for diverting subsidies meant for Eastern German shipyards.
