Shark feeding frenzy hard to swallow

It was the fishy tale of the one that didn't get away. What was not clear, though, was where it was caught.

The Lai family were fishing in the South China Sea yesterday when they got a bite and a half. 'I knew it had to be really big because the boat was rocking,' said Lai Tai, 48. But when the catch - a 10-metre whale shark - was brought home, there was excitement on the quayside that it was caught in local waters and could be the killer that has terrorised Hong Kong beaches. Not so. The Lai's finally revealed that it was caught off the China-controlled Lema Islands. And what's more, this denizen prefers plankton to people.
