A former star student watched porn films with his younger sister before having sex with her, a court heard yesterday.

    But she described him as 'a good brother who loves me very much', even though he allegedly had sex with her for two years.

    The 25-year-old lived with his sister, 20, and their father in a three-bedroom flat. The girl had arrived in Hong Kong in 1991 from Beijing where she lived with her mother, who had been divorced for 10 years.

    She and her brother slept in bunk-beds in the same bedroom because the extra room housed their father's piano.

    She described her brother as the best student in their school and the sort of person everyone respected.

    'In the eyes of other people he is very nice to me and I'm bad to him,' she said. 'But they don't know about this.'     The sister told the District Court that in mid-1992, when she was 16, her brother had a nightmare and climbed into her bed to be comforted.

    'This went on for some time and I didn't feel anything was wrong,' she said. 'Then one night he had sex with me.

    'I was afraid I might be pregnant. I said to him I felt bad and improper. He said other people, especially in the United States, did that.'     The woman said her brother kept a collection of pornographic books and videotapes, but she assumed most men had similar collections. When the pair were bored they would watch the films and he would take her into the bedroom for sex afterwards, she told the court.

   She said she had been raped when she was nine by a family friend and found sex disgusting.

    'I thought I would never be victimised again. I thought it would never happen in my family. I could not imagine I would be tricked by someone I should respect.'     The woman admitted she did not fight her brother when he wanted sex as she was afraid her father would find out and they would both be in trouble. She said she considered her brother a victim too.

    In January, she tried to overdose on sleeping pills and told a social worker about her problems.

    Her brother denies incest. The trial continues today before Judge Gareth Lugar-Mawson.
