A father had no moral qualms when his children, who were allegedly lovers, watched porn films together, a court heard yesterday.

The father objected to the videos only on artistic grounds because he thought they were 'boring garbage'.

Giving evidence yesterday, the father said he was unaware that his son, 25, and his daughter, 20, were allegedly involved in a two-year affair in the bedroom they shared.

'She was the one who began renting the tapes and they would watch them together,' the father told the District Court.

'She watched most of them, and my son would work at his computer. I did not object because they had reached the age of 18 and in Hong Kong it is legal to watch these types of videos.' Judge Gareth Lugar-Mawson asked if the videos were just 'tits and bums' films or whether they were hard-core pornography. Prosecutor Joseph Stevenson said the police had described the films as 'explicit'.

The court heard the siblings had lived apart until the daughter moved to Hong Kong in 1991, from Beijing. The parents had divorced and the girl was allowed to come to Hong Kong on condition that she study hard.
