There's nothing like a pop concert to give a swinging start to things, and a colourful show at the Wan Chai Stadium the other night did just this for a bursting package of summer action for young people. The 'Swinging Summer '96' concert was organised by Radio Television Hong Kong and the Summer Youth Programme Committee. A lighting ceremony marked the launching of a wide range of activities for young folk of different districts to dig into this season. The programme, now in its 28th year, includes carnivals, sports days, games, camps and service projects. All activities aim to raise concern for society and promote civic awareness among the younger generation. Hosting the show were artistes Tam Siu-wan and Lam Hiu-fung. Singers whipping up the enthusiasm included Andy Lau, Hacken Lee, Sammi Cheng, Ekin Cheng, Karen Tong, Daniel Chan, Ray Chan, Raymond Tso, Lam Ka-tung, Leung Pui-ling, Lau Hiu-tung and Cheng Pak-lam. If you missed the concert, you can still catch the highlights on TVB's Jade Channel on July 27, 7 pm to 8.30 pm.
