A girl yesterday told a rape trial that police had coached her into lying to the court by insisting she was a virgin. 'The police said, no matter what, I should tell people this is the first time I had sex,' the schoolgirl told the High Court. It is alleged the 14-year-old was conned into having oral sex and intercourse with a man in a stairwell. He told her she was being stalked by a ghost and the only way to exorcise the demon was by having sex with him, the court heard. The teenager admitted she was not a virgin. But the officer who took her statement advised her to keep that fact a secret, the court was told. On the witness stand she confessed that a month before the alleged stairwell incident she had sex for the first time with her boyfriend. Hon Shun-on, 20, denies he had unlawful sex with the girl on August 24 last year, or that he raped her slightly older friend the same night. The younger girl told the court how Hon had terrified them with ghost stories and told her she was being haunted by an evil spirit. He claimed he was an expert in a Chinese martial art. 'He told us he had special charms,' the older girl, who is also 14, said. 'He told us about his childhood and about being a monk.' The younger girl said she fell for the story because 'I was so scared and shocked when I heard about the ghost standing beside me. It was dark and he was very serious. I believed him'. She said she knew what she was doing when she agreed to sex. She claimed it was terror that convinced her to go through with it. But the older girl told the court she was raped by Hon because she would not comply. When she refused Hon threatened to kill her, she said. 'He pushed me to the ground and told me not to struggle or he would strangle me,' she said. The case continues.
