LISTING flight schedules would seem to be a fairly straightforward procedure. But, for the Chinese sector the two main independent guides - ABC and OAG - disagree on some major routes.

However, OAG seems to have a more comprehensive listing for China. While ABC does not list flights by one of China's six major airlines (China Northwest Airlines), OAG does not list those by China General Aviation, an airline which is growing in importance.

And ABC names China Northern Airlines as ''CAAC Shenyang'' although it is understood that the airline has formally changed from being a division of CAAC to a separate company.

To examine a sample, on the Guangzhou-Beijing route: Daily flight at 1400 hours on China Northwest Airlines listed in OAG, not in ABC.

Five-times weekly flight at 1810/1820 on China General Aviation listed in ABC, not in OAG.
