Hong Kong's pollution problems make it a good place to carry out research, a British environmental control consultant says.
Dr Michael Fillery, principal lecturer at the University of Derby, who is also a noise control consultant, said the territory's pollution problems and attempts to solve them provided abundant material for study.
Dr Fillery, programme leader of a Master of Science course in environmental pollution control, said he wanted to set up links with a Hong Kong university and enrol students from the territory.
'Hong Kong has a mature, developed economy which takes environmental issues seriously. The Government and other agencies are committed to solving the problems,' he said.
'It has a full range of pollution problems, including problems with air, water, waste disposal and noise, and they are real problems which needed to be addressed.' He has had talks with staff at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Science and Technology.
