A bungling burglar stole a mobile phone from a flat and left behind loot taken from another break-in, a court heard yesterday. Yau Chun-man denied burglary before the District Court. Lam Supamas woke on April 4 to find a velvet box containing a $500 gold coin, but her mobile phone and $126 in coins were missing. Ms Lam called the police and they ran straight into Yau emerging from the back alley of the Sha Tin flat, the court heard. Yau, 24, said he was 'just walking past'. Earlier that night Cheng Wai-kwan's flat had been ransacked. The velvet box and coin and the handbag were taken from her home. The trial continues today before Judge Andrew Chung.
