Greenpeace is hunting for a trilingual executive director to head its office in Hong Kong in October.
The group's director Anne Dingwall said the appointee had to be fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
'Hong Kong is one of the few places in the world where a lot of people do have these skills,' she said.
The candidate should have a deep cultural and social understanding of the region.
'Environmental protection can only come out of societal change. People changing habits, industries changing production, government changing laws.' The position has attracted 60 applications from Hong Kong and Singapore. The office in Hong Kong will be the 33rd in the world.
Ms Dingwall said the group's ship MV Greenpeace was due to sail back to the territory on October 10.
