Hailed as one of today's finest guitarists, Manuel Barrueco will give a recital of classics leavened with some jazz at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall on August 23.
The Cuban-born musician's repertoire ranges from Bach and Mozart to the romantic Spanish masters, and from the jazz greats Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett to contemporary composers such as Toru Takemitsu and Roberto Sierra.
Barrueco has performed in all major North American cities as well as the capitals of most European and Asian countries, and his best-selling recordings have been critically acclaimed worldwide.
His recital programme next Friday starting at 8 pm includes works by Scarlatti, Bach, Barrios, Villa-Lobos, Turina, Rodrigo, and Chick Corea.
Tickets at $130, $90 and $60 are available at all Urbtix outlets (half price for senior citizens, the disabled and full-time students).
