Canadian Air Cargo expands in South Pacific with new pacts

Canadian Air Cargo is expanding its presence in the South Pacific by signing new cargo-handling agreements with three additional carriers and relocating to a larger cargo facility in Honolulu.

'The expansion entrenches the strong profile already held by the company in this region,' said John Gibson, general manager, international, for Canadian Air Cargo.

'We are a long-established international carrier in this market and we're building on our reputation for quality third-party handling.' Canadian Air Cargo at Honolulu began handling cargo for Continental Airlines and Air Micronesia on August 1 and Canadian will start cargo handling for American Airlines on October 1.

It will also maintain its current cargo handling arrangements at Honolulu with Qantas and EVA Airways.

The signing of these agreements caused expansion of Canadian's Honolulu cargo operation, which necessitated relocation to a larger, 18,000-square-foot facility on August 1.

This new facility provides easy access to both customs authorities and inter-line partners, and also incorporates an advanced aircraft cargo container handling system, allowing for smoother flow and more efficient processing of larger cargo volumes.
