KCR staff found themselves in a hairy situation yesterday when a banana-brained stowaway refused to alight from a train. A seven-kilogram monkey flung himself from the train roof into a carriage as scores of passengers got off at the busy Lowu border checkpoint at about 12.15 pm. Platform staff, unable to evict the pesky primate, sealed off the cabin. The train was sent back into normal service still carrying the ostracised animal. He managed three free scenic trips to and from the border before Agriculture and Fisheries Department officers netted him at Hunghom station at about 2.30 pm. The monkey, of the local rhesus species, was taken to Sha Tin Government Kennels where he will remain for several weeks for veterinary examination.
