An offer of free tickets did little to quell tempers of Turbo Cat passengers who had been left drifting in the South China Sea. Offered repeated promises of a swift lift home, but no food or drink for nearly four hours, passengers arrived at China Harbour City pier angry and seasick. Front row passenger Sally Tam said although the collision occurred at about 5.15 pm, no food or water was offered by the catamaran's crew until around 8.45 pm. 'It was only much later that they gave us some water and then everybody had to queue up for instant noodles,' Ms Tam said. Another passenger said: 'The captain kept saying a boat would be coming in 10 minutes to take us back. Thirty minutes later he'd say it again. He kept saying it for four hours.'
